Mum has heart set on sweet name for baby daughter until she realises it sounds like meat

A mother who has just given birth to her baby daughter says she was left torn between two sweet names for her little girl, and reached out to name fans for advice on which one to choose. The new mum in question wore that she was about to be discharged from the hospital, and was still undecided about a name.

The two names she'd fallen for were London Brielle and Emmeline Jane, but she just couldn't settle on one. With time being of the essence, she decided to reach out to users of Reddit's name nerds forum for their thoughts on the matter.

The unnamed mum, who goes by the username u/ladyefron420, wrote: "We are more than likely being discharged from the hospital today. We are down to two names!

"London Brielle or Emmeline Jane (Pronunciation 'emme-leen' not 'line'': like Caroline) Help!"

Her fellow name nerds were quick to warn her however that the name 'London Brielle' sounded an awful lot like London broil, a North American beef dish made by marinating then broiling beef, before cutting thin slices of the meat across the grain.

After one user pointed out the similarities, another agreed: "Oh no! Was going to vote for this one but now I can’t unhear London broil. Kids won’t make that connection but their parents probably will, assuming her middle name is regularly being used/known. Emmeline Jane is beautiful and doesn’t sound like meat."

A third commented: "Hate to say it, but I was thinking the same thing. London Brielle reminds me too much of London broil."

After taking the feedback on board, the new mother gave the following update on her all-important decision: "We went with Emmeline Jane and will more than likely call her Emme, or MJ.

"We feel Emmeline will flow throughout her whole life and will sound beautiful as it is or if she chooses to continue with a nickname. If we have another baby and it’s a girl, I think it’ll be London!"
