Mum has faith in humanity restored after 'worst day ever'

A retail worker said one woman's random act of kindness 'restored her faith in humanity' after a horrible day.

Chantelle, a mum from Lancaster, posted on a Facebook group telling people she had been shouted at four times by four different customers that day for things out of her control.

After her "horrible day" she said she picked up her son from his Nan's house and went to their local Spar to buy something nice to eat for the film night they had planned.

While they were waiting in the queue, Chantelle said a lady in front who had just finished paying handed her son a large packet of Milkybar buttons.

The woman told her "I saw him looking at them" which Chantelle said made her son "so happy".

She added in her public post: "I was so shocked! How kind! You have restored my faith after the terrible shift I have just been on.

"I hope you read this and I want to say you have made my son's night! And mine too!"

The post proved incredibly popular, attracting more than 1.4k likes.

Responding the post, Marie Robson said: "I feel your pain and anger, I work in retail and some customers don't give a flying hoot about the hard work that you do every shift as long as they get their bunch of REDUCED spring onions."

Kev Pearson replied: "Wouldn't life be so much more amazing if more of these things happened xx".

Deb Walker commented: "People are sent to try us! Shame you had a crappy day but How lovely of that lady, outshines the miserable 4 x".

While Brenda Ralph posted: "That's a lovely true story, wish more people were kind, it makes for a better world! It has restored my faith just reading that thankyou!"

Shocked by how popular her post had become, Chantelle added to her original post: "Nearly 1,000 likes I’m amazed! Please can I just ask that we all be patient with retail staff.

"We are doing the best we can. We welcome your custom with open arms and I can say without doubt, especially where I work, all staff members go above and beyond to ensure a nice experience to everyone when visiting our shop.

"We appreciate you so please appreciate us. We are a community and let’s all stand together!"
