Mum gushes over son's handmade Mother's Day card - then reads brutal disclaimer inside

Yesterday families across the UK celebrated Mother's Day, with children gifting their mums cards, flowers, chocolates and more.

It's a day for people to celebrate their mum and show them just how much they mean to them.

One parent was thrilled when her young son presented her with a handmade card, wishing her a Happy Mother's Day.

However, when she took a closer look inside, she realised the whole thing wasn't quite as cute as she'd first thought.

In a video on TikTok, Becca Thompson showed off the card, which had shiny red stars stuck on the front and a love heart design cut into the paper when you opened it up.

The message on the right side of the card read: "Happy Mother's Day, from Alfie."

But at the very bottom of the left side is a smaller bit of writing which says: "I was forced to do this."

How charming! Kids can be so brutal.

Becca's video went viral, being watched over 748,000 times and garnering more than 88,000 likes.

Thousands of people also took the time to comment on the clip, with one person writing: "KEEP IT FOREVER. And bring it out when he is older."

Another said: "This is why homemade cards are so great. The gift that just keeps on giving."

"He's gonna be the main character in his class if he's not already," replied a third.

Someone else posted: "It's a boy thing. I had a drawing of a poo with flies around it on my envelope and didn't even write mum."

A different user added: "Mine said Happy Mother's Day, thank you daddy for everything. He's a daddy's boy."

"Nothing better than a begrudged card," proclaimed a sixth. "I got a birthday card from my partner of 11 years signed 'all the best', no lots of love, no best wishes."
