Mum glassed boyfriend in violent attack after his sister said 'she did not deserve to be a mother'

A mum has been spared jail after launching a brutal glass attack on her boyfriend before spitting at him and then slapping a landlady.

Chloe Hansom glassed her partner in the face after his sister told the 22-year-old she "did not deserve to be a mother ".

Tensions were high between the lovers when they found out their 18-month-old child was registered blind after being diagnosed with a gland disorder.

She hit him between the eyes which left blood pouring down his face from the deep cut to his brow.

Hull Crown Court heard the pair had been at The Bank pub in Holderness Road on May 31 earlier this year when Hansom attacked her boyfriend.

"It is not known if the glass was thrown or he was hit in the face with it because the victim, who is the defendant's partner, did not want to provide a statement to the police when asked," said defence barrister Nigel Clive.

He added: "She [Hansom] very much wants this to be dealt with today and so she can put these events behind her. The victim is her partner in this case and they are still together."

Mr Clive had told the court "tensions were running high" between the couple before the altercation which also saw Hansom slap the landlady of The Bank pub as she tried to break up the fracas.

While she was being arrested by Humberside Police officers at the scene, she also spat at her partner following an argument over who had their house keys, Hull Live reports.

Hansom, of Folkestone Street, north Hull, pleaded guilty to three assaults, one of which was occasioning actual bodily harm against her partner. She has no previous convictions.

Judge Peter Kelson QC, described the attack as "a one off" after she "lost control" during the attack.

He told her: "You lost control of yourself and to the horrendous state of your personal circumstances. I sentence you to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

"If you get into any sort of trouble over the next 12 months then you will activate the three month sentence."
