A woman said she was given the 'filthiest look' after being caught swearing at her daughter - but soon she was inundated with support from parents saying they had done it too.
Taking to Mumsnet, the woman said that her daughter likes to argue 'black is white' and was in a particularly difficult spell when the incident occurred.
She said she got frustrated, so when her daughter turned around she raised two fingers, flipping off her child - but she was red-faced as another mum caught her in the act.
The anonymous woman shared her story online and soon she was inundated with support from others, as many people came forward to say they have done it too - and some do it regularly.

Sharing her story, the woman said: "Am I being unreasonable by flicking my daughter the V behind her back?
"For context, she's eight going on 15 with the attitude and arguing that black is white just for the sake of it. She made some such comment on the way home from school today so I flicked her the v out of pure frustration!
"She didn't see, and even if she did probably has no idea what it means BUT.... another mother in the school run saw and I got the filthiest look!

"I would just like to stress, I wouldn't dream of doing it to her face and I never verbally swear at her. It was just frustration and annoyance at her attitude and it diffuses the feelings in me, a way to let off steam."
After sharing her story, other parents were quick to offer the mum support.
One said: "We've all done that. Or if we haven't, at times we've all wanted to and anyone who says differently is lying out of their a**e."
Then a second wrote: "I do it all the time to my kids' retreating backs. Tend to do it more in the house than in public though as other people are very judgemental."
A third commented: "Love this! You are not being unreasonable. The other mother will know that feeling one day."
And a fourth added: "I do it, gets rid of my annoyance quickly so less conflict with my son."
