Mum fuming over daughter, 15, 'kicked off bus' after being 'violently attacked by group of girls'

A mum has been left fuming after claims her teenage daughter was thrown off a bus after being violently attacked by a group of girls.

Emma, who asked to conceal her surname, says her 15-year-old daughter, Freya, was targeted and beaten whilst travelling on the top deck of a Stagecoach bus in Reddish on Tuesday night (December 27).

She and another friend had gone to sit down when they noticed a group of around nine girls at the back of the bus, who were alleged to have been inhaling nitrous oxide from balloons.

Emma's daughter claims one of the girls came down to speak to her and asked her where her coat was from. She replied, but then another girl came over to them.

"Suddenly both of them just started hitting her," Emma said, speaking to the M.E.N. They then pushed her to the floor and stamped on her head.

"The driver heard the commotion and went to the top of the bus to stop what was going on. He asked Freya if she was okay but then kicked them all off the bus.

"The girls continued to go at her once he'd kicked them off. They spat in her face as she and her friend were pleading for them to stop."

Fortunately, Emma says her daughter and her friend were able to break free and ran off and were noticed by a member of the public who called the police.

"The police officer told me it was very common for groups of teenagers to do balloons these days," Emma said. "She said the balloons give them a buzz and they have then gone for my daughter.

"She said it was likely they were already known to police and she said she was going to try and get the CCTV from the bus.

"I am angry and concerned that the bus driver has thrown my daughter off the bus with these vile girls knowing what had happened."

Emma said her daughter has been left incredibly shaken up by the incident, and has a lump on her head and has lost some hair following the alleged assault.

"She has been extremely lucky as she had a £100 necklace on as well as her iPhone and a new coat on," she said. "They didn't steal anything, just gave her a good beating.

"It's awful and I know this kind of thing is going on a lot at the moment round here and it seems to be fuelled by drugs."

A spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester: "We are very concerned to hear these allegations. We expect our employees to deliver a very high standard of customer service and as soon as we were made aware of these claims, we began an internal investigation to understand the full circumstances involved."

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
