Mum fumes as neighbour tries to block her driveway with rocks to stop her using it

If you're able to park your car on your own driveway, you don't usually expect to get into parking disputes with your neighbour. But one mum has found that to not be the case, as her next-door neighbour is so "obsessed" with his driveway that he wants it kept clear at all times - and wants her to stop parking on hers too.

The mum explained she and the neighbour only have a small patch of bushes that separate their driveways, and he has now taken to placing large rocks on the very edge of his property so that they hang over onto hers. She claimed that as her driveway is already narrow, the rocks make it difficult for her to get her car in and out - and have even made it dangerous for her young daughter.

In a Reddit post, she wrote: "We have a new neighbour who is obsessed with his driveway. He won't let anyone use it, even his guests. He puts cones up.

"Well, we have a small patch of bushes between our driveways and he decided to put rocks in there, and then put big rocks standing up against our driveway. Our driveway is super narrow and he also put a big boulder at the end of [our driveways] which makes it super hard to get into my driveway.

"These rocks now hang over our driveway and I find it a safety hazard to me and my kid getting in and out of my truck. Also, in a rush, I've driven over a few of them.

"Every morning I drive my kid to school. One morning, he set up those sturdy metal gardening rakes with the spikes facing up on those rocks, right next to my truck, like an inch from my driveway. I'm livid at this point because my daughter and I could get severely hurt with these."

The woman wants her neighbour to get rid of the rocks that she believes are a danger to her, but recently spotted her husband going over "keep the peace" with the man - which left her furious.

She added: "Now, while I'm at work, my husband decides to shake hands with the guy and wants to keep the peace. At the very least, I think my daughter and I should get an apology because [the rocks] were set out for us in the morning, not my husband.

"I honestly don't think he should get away with trying to hurt people over rocks. I am mad at my husband now for caring more about peace with the neighbour than our safety."

And in the comments, the woman said she has been told by the neighbour that he put the rocks there for the sole purpose of dissuading her from parking on her own driveway.

She said: "Also would like to add that the neighbour admitted to putting the rocks the way they are because he's trying to prevent me from parking in my driveway - because he doesn't like me parking in my driveway."

Commenters on the post were equally as baffled, with many saying it's none of his business where she parks her car, and he has no say over her driveway.

One person said: "Remind him he's trespassing if he puts stuff in your driveway again, and you will press charges if it happens again. I understand your husband wanting to keep the peace but your neighbour sounds insufferable."

While another wrote: "You don't always have to be a united front with your spouse. Make it clear with your neighbour that it might be okay with your husband, but it isn't with you. I wouldn't try to seek out an apology, that's not useful, just ensure he doesn't endanger you/prevent you from driving on your driveway anymore. The best you're likely to get from this person is a result, not emotional closure."

And a third posted: "This guy is preventing you from using your property. Go all out on him. He needs to learn that he lives in a community with other people."
