Mum follows lipstick 'trail of destruction' to catch her daughter, 2, red-handed

Kiara Chandler woke up to use the bathroom when she spotted red lipstick smudged on her bedroom light switch and down the wall below.

The 22-year-old mum was confused as to where it had come from and set out to investigate - only discover the fairly substantial damage was just the beginning.

In anticipation of what she may be about to find, Kiara took out her phone to film as she followed a trail of red destruction.

The medical student found the her banister almost completely coloured in from top to bottom in £17 MAC lipstick.

Turning the corner with some trepidation, she was faced with her two-year-old daughter, who had also taken it upon herself to colour her entire face and arms in her mum's make-up.

Little Harper-Jean Cook had sneaked into her mum's bedroom at their home in Leeds, and grabbed the MAC product to indulge in some beauty therapy.

Caught red-handed, red-faced and pretty much red everything else in the house, Harper-Jean tried her best to look innocent.

Her mum said: "She just turned to me and told me that she looked 'beautiful, like a clown'.

"When I first saw the chaos I was a little cross, but it was hard to be mad at her because the situation is so funny. Her entire face is stained completely red.

"Harper's reaction was 'you don't have to shout at me just talk normally, I am only stood here'.

"I reckon she managed to cause all the mess in less than 20 minutes. She had sneaked into my bedroom while I was still sleeping and nicked the lipstick from my dressing table.

"She had taken it back it into her room and began rubbing it all over the walls and banister.

"I wear that lipstick everyday and each one costs £17. Fortunately, she only used one.

"Her favourite Frozen dress is really stained and I might have to throw it out. The lipstick is totally destroyed and the remains are still missing somewhere.

"I think it has put a few of my friends off from having children."

After posting the footage of the carnage left behind on her Facebook page, one of Kiara's friends compared Harper-Jean to the character of Poppy from the film Trolls, a head-to-toe pink animation played by Anna Kendrick.
