Mum fell 80m to death in front of her kids after climbing barrier onto beauty spot

A woman plunged to her death from a popular photo spot in front of her family.

Rosy Loomba tripped over the edge of the Boroka Lookout in Halls Gap in Victoria, Australia.

The 38-year-old fell more than 80 metres down the cliff face while her husband and children watched on.

Police said the mother-of-two had climbed past safety barriers to pose on a "picture perfect rock" at about 3pm.

Witnesses to the tragedy said they heard the woman scream as she fell.

For six hours police scoured the cliff face in a bid to find the community worker.

Rescue officers eventually managed to carry the woman's body up the rocky terrain.

Basant's sister, Jassu Minal Loomba, said Rosy had been devoted to her family.

She told the  Herald Sun : "She was a good life partner for my brother and best mum for her kids.

"(The family is) still in shock and it's really hard to believe."

Witnesses told the publication that she had climbed over the barrier for a photograph.

Tour guide Graham Wood said that he had warned his customers about not climbing over the safety barriers just 30 minutes before Mrs Loomba died.

"This happens all the time and one of these days someone's gonna fall off," he told 9News.

Iman Kamarelddin, from Melbourne, said that she had climbed over the barrier onto the same spot two hours before.

She told 9News she did it "just for the photos" and "just for the thrill of it".

She added: "Follow the signs. Don't do it if it's gonna risk your life."

Police Minister Lisa Neville urged people to be more careful.

"We can't rope off every part of Victoria," she said.

"People have to take responsibility."
