A mum has revealed how she feeds her six-month-old baby girl rare steak and claims that the she loves having it.
Katie Harley, posted a video on social media of her little tot, Eliza, perched in her high chair in the kitchen chomping on some juicy beef she is holding.
The new mum previously shared a video on the TikTok platform explaining she was taking part in a ‘baby-led’ weaning programme.
It has been touted to promote babies eating new foods, however, this means that the six-month-old baby chooses what she eats, not Katie.
She said that Eliza loves rare steak, alongside pomegranate smoothie and yoghurt, but fellow parents are skeptical of the approach and have given their opinion.
Katie’s video has been viewed nearly 200,000 times and soon she was inundated with comments, report Mirror Online.
One user said: “I love rare steak but is rare steak ok for a baby? Even pregnant women can’t eat rare steak.”
A second person commented: “Not ok at all,” while another moaned: “That’s not even cooked.”
“Baby-led weaning is amazing, raw meat is a no,” said a fourth user in the comments.
Someone else argued: “It’s good for them and encourages jaw development and strength.”
Another said: “My kids are vegan so it’s a no for me but you know everyone talking smack are feeding their kids hot dogs and bear paws all day sooooo lol.”

“Baby knows the right way to eat a steak. I use to eat ‘fully cooked steak’ but then I tried medium raw and ohhhh taste way better,” wrote a supporter.
According to advice published on the NHS website, the main foods that are risky for babies to eat are raw eggs, honey, whole nuts and peanuts, mould-ripened and unpasteurised cheeses, rice drinks, raw jelly cubes, raw shellfish, shark, swordfish, and marlin.
This is either because of choking hazards, listeria, or high concentrations of metals like mercury and arsenic.
It also said babies should ideally not consume sugar and foods high in salt and saturated fats such as bacon, sausages, takeaways, ready meals, crackers, and crisps.
There was no mention of steak on the list of “foods to avoid giving babies and young children”.
