A mother fears for the safety of her daughter at school after a violent attack at the hands of bullies was filmed. Footage shows a pupil being thrown to the ground where they are then struck.
Ms Jayne, whose daughter attends Colne Valley High School in Huddersfield, says the school is 'not doing enough' to deter bullying she claims her child has suffered for a number of months, reports YorkshireLive.
The mother says she has taken the step of removing her daughter from school and has tried to open contact with school leaders. Ms Jayne was previously asked to pick up her daughter early but couldn't due to commitments with her grandchildren.
The bully's mother was then asked to pick up and drop off her child but the bully issue has persisted, says Ms Jayne. She told YorkshireLive that her daughter had developed an eating disorder and had lost some amount of weight as a result.
"So I said to the school, I said 'listen, I'm not sending my daughter back, I don't think she's safe'.
"My daughter's lost a hell of a lot of weight since all this happened. She's lost nearly three stone now.
"She's not eating and she's become a recluse and she's unhappy. The school don't care."
Colne Valley High School responded by saying: "We work very closely to support our students and families within our community and take issues of bullying very seriously. Our quality assurance processes are effective which involves regular external reviews. Bullying is dealt with robustly and swiftly.
"If any parent / carer or student is ever unhappy with the way the school has dealt with a situation, then we strongly recommend that they follow the complaints procedures so that the issue can be resolved quickly and appropriately in the best interests of the young people."
