Mum fake tans her son, 5, by mistake after falling asleep cuddling him

A red-faced mum ended up fake tanning her young son by mistake after they fell asleep together after a post-bake sofa cuddle.

Hannah Lacey dozed off with little lad Kai, five, in front of the TV after she had slapped on the "darker than dark" bronzer.

But after the pair woke from their nap, the poor lad was left with the brown marks all over his face and arm.

Thankfully for embarrassed Hannah, of Colburn, North Yorkshire, he loved the early summer look – but more shame was around the corner as she had to call his school and explain when it wouldn't come off.

The 29-year-old parent failed to notice the artificial tan was on her son when they first woke.

Tattoo shop piercer Hannah then spotted a lighter patch on her own arm.

She then realised it was where little Kai had been sleeping against her and then realised it had rubbed off on him.

Mum-of-three Hannah was unable to wash it off after frantic scrubbing and had to phone into his school to warn them what had happened.

She said: "I didn't get to sit out in the nice weather last week so I've faked tanned ready for the heatwave.

"I did my darker than dark tan last night and shared a bed with Kai.

"We had lovely cuddles and fell asleep watching telly together.

"The next morning I woke up early to grab a shower and wash off the top layer of the tan.

"I noticed I had a patch down my arm that was a bit lighter and I didn't think much of it until my son followed me to the bathroom and I saw his face.

"I didn't even notice his arm until I was about to get him dressed in his uniform.

"I just knew instantly it was my tan as he was the identical shade of my arm. I was laughing and showed him in the mirror he was laughing too.

"Kai found it hilarious and didn't want me to try scrubbing it off however due to school I took as much as I could off. But it didn't budge.

She added: "I rang in and told them what happened.

"The receptionist said she would tell his teacher he isn't dirty for me, but only after she stopped laughing down the phone.

"I didn't really realise so many mums relate to it didn't think it would get this much attention."
