Mum explains why she queued at Aldi 'in the dark' to buy Prime drink

A mum has taken to social media to explain why she queued "in the dark" with her son to buy him the Prime drink from Aldi.

On Thursday, Aldi stores across the UK saw customers queueing outside in the hopes of getting their hands on the £1.99 energy drink, created by Youtube stars KSI and Logan Paul.

Aldi placed a limit of one of each flavour per shopper, given how popular the drink is.

Now one Aldi shopper has hit out at "judgemental" people after queueing up with her son to get it. Taking to a Facebook group dedicated to fans of Aldi, the woman said: "My kid wanted the drink and was willing to queue up for it the same way some of you did for an airfryer or whatever.

"Stop being so judgmental. Me and my son had a fun hour, getting up like it’s Xmas morning in the dark and talking to people in the queue. He got the drink, it cost me £1.99 and he is over the moon."

Other parents were quick to comment on the post, which has amassed some 1,400 likes. One Facebook user said: "Some families couldn't afford the latest new trainers or designer tracksuits their children asked for, some can't afford the newest phones and games consoles. Some can't afford the stuff on their kid's wish lists.

"So queueing to get the drink they asked for may be the only thing some parents can do for their children. Why are people so nasty about it. The cruel comments and snide digs, there's no need for it."

A second said: "Grown adults queuing for air fryers, heated airers and carrot teddies.... yet kids queue up for a drink and it's considered weird or wrong? Crikey! It's not as if they are drinking it by the gallon!", while a third added: "If people want to queue, let them".
