Mum enjoys first victory in nine years with 66/1 winner in front of her daughter

Linzi Dowdall couldn't have been happier after winning on her first ever ride at the Curragh on board 66/1 shot Khezaana.

What made the victory even sweeter was the fact that her seven-year-old daughter Ellie-Mae was at the Co Kildare venue to witness the win.

Dowdall partnered Khezaana to a shock success for trainer Donal Kinsella in the Tesoro Vita Ladies Trophy Handicap on Sunday. The win was the 36-year-old's first since 2012 when she won a bumper at Sligo on Polish Partisan.

Speaking to Racing TV afterwards, she said: "It's my first ever ride in the Curragh, it's my second ride for Donal and to ride Khezaana for Donal a winner is unreal.

"My daughter managed to be able to come to the races with everything opening up, my mum and dad, my friends [were also at the races]."

On Khezaana, the jockey added: "She had a lovely run in Galway for us. We still didn't know a whole pile about her coming in here but we thought an awful lot of her. We just didn't think it was that special.

"I worked hard to do the weight as well. I wouldn't have done it for any other horse. I wouldn't have worked as hard as I did for any other horse."
