Mum dragged dying daughter to shore after three sharks attacked her just feet away

A mum watched on in horror as three sharks savagely mauled her daughter while in the Bahamas.

Jordan Lindsey was snorkeling close to Rose Island when the predators attacker her, The Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed.

Both her parents looked on helplessly as the sharks closed in.

They called out to the 21-year-old as the animals approached but she didn't hear them.

“My wife was near Jordan, a few feet away, when the shark attacked,” her father, Michael Lindsey told US outlet ABC News.

“She said it happened so fast and no one yelled anything.

“My wife got to Jordan and pulled Jordan to shore by herself.”

The Environmental Communications student suffered devastating injuries in the attack.

Her right arm was torn off and she was bitten on her left arm, both legs and buttocks.

Deputy Commissioner Paul Rolle told  WPLG  her body will be taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau for an autopsy and then transported to California by the US Embassy.

Jace Holton, a doctor from Texas, was on the same tour boat as Jordan and even took a picture of the shark after the attack.

The 32-year-old explained that during the tour, visitors were taken to a roped-off area to snorkel with two guides before going to see the wild pigs on the other side of the island.

Jace told MailOnline she had been snorkeling in the exact same spot as Lindsey just 45 minutes before the sharks attacked.

"About 45 minutes after we snorkeled in that exact spot is when people ran on to our side saying a girl had been bitten by a shark and it look pretty severe," she said.

"On my side of the island we didn’t see any. But everyone got out of the water and we were pretty scared.

"When we were getting back on the boat there were two small sharks still in the water and there was one large shark that I sent my brother a picture of that was still in the water."

Jace said several workers jumped in to try and save her before an emergency boat arrived.

"I think they were all pretty stunned and shocked honestly from what I understand it was pretty severe."

Gofundme  page has been set up by the family to pay for Jordan's body to be sent back to California.

"Jordan had the most beautiful, gentle soul and she will be missed deeply," the page reads.

"Jordan’s body needs to be transported from the Bahamas back to her home of California, which is very expensive."

More than $60,000 has been donated to arranging the 21-year-old's repatriation and funeral (GoFundme)

In less than two days more than $60,000  (£47,000) had been raised by people sending their commiserations.

One woman wrote: "This has to be a families worst nightmare. what should have been a wonderful experience turned into a horrible event."

Biologist Dr Erich Ritter told Yahoo News that the sharks' behaviour was not normal.

He suggested they may have been triggered by something, such as bait being thrown into the water.
