Mum divides opinion with 'disgusting' home - but some applaud her honesty about mess

Depictions of family homes on social media are often a far cry from reality, as they show spotless surfaces, gleaming floors and neatly folded laundry.

For many of us - especially those with kids - keeping on top of housework isn't always easy when you've got one hundred things to do first, and it can be all too easy to compare yourself with seemingly 'perfect' cleaning influencers.

One mum has left a number of parents feeling that bit more patient with themselves after sharing footage of her less-than-sparkling - but highly relatable looking - home.

Mum-of-two Taylor Paul, who goes by the TikTok username @taylorfrankiepaul, recently shared a clip of what one house-proud follower described as being their 'worst nightmare'.

In the short video, Taylor, who lives in Utah in the US, can be seen addressing the quote 'your room is a reflection of your mind', filming her living room and kitchen area before heading up to the bedrooms and bathroom.

The self-deprecating clip, which has been mockingly captioned 'jealous I'm so clear-headed?', shows a fair bit of clutter on the kitchen countertops and floor, while the beds upstairs were unmade. A bathroom sink area could be seen covered with various makeup items, with little organisation in place.

For many Mrs Hinch fans, the clip is more akin to a short horror film than a TikTok vid, and a number of people claimed it gave them 'anxiety just seeing it'.

One person wrote: "Oh my. I could never. This would make me very uneasy."

Another shuddered: "I wanna run out of a house I’m not even in."

However, various other followers took heart in Taylor's messy home, praising her for being so refreshingly honest and relatable in a world of impossibly high standards.

A third person commented: "Thank you for sharing this, most influencers just share the good stuff that's aesthetically pleasing. This is real."

A fourth applauded: "Do you know what, thank you for this…my place looks like this and now I'm happy I'm not the only one."
