Mum disowns paedophile 'monk' son who fled to Mexico and called himself Rodrigo

An infuriated mother has disowned her son after he fled Scotland to become a self-styled monk in Mexico.

Catherine Beaumont, 86, of Dundee, Scotland, said she's 'finished' with her conman son Rod after knowing he told people that she had died and conned people over her funeral.

Beaumont, 63, was found guilty of grooming a 15-year-old schoolboy three years ago and left the country.

He is now called Rodrigo de la Cruz now and lives in Mexico City with a teen boy he introduces as 'nephew', reported Daily Record .

The Record tracked down to Catherine and asked about her son but she said: "I do have a son called Rod but you can't speak to me about him.

"You would probably think I've passed on because I don't keep very well and the thing is I've sent money on to the Foreign Office to give to him.

"That's me finished."
