Mum 'disgusted' at parents of 'flouting social distancing' outside school gates

A "disgusted" mum has told fellow parents to set a better example to their children after failing to follow social distancing rules.

The Birmingham woman said she "felt physically sick" as kids returned to classes this week.

She took recordings of the parents at the gate huddling together as they waited to collect their children from Ninestiles School on Thursday.

The unnamed mum claimed she was forced to "physically push through the crowds" with many ignoring social distancing advice from the school.

Now she wants people to change their ways - or risk a rise in infections.

BirminghamLive reports that the the frustrated parent has since called for more to be done to combat the huge queues.

"You just couldn't get through the crowd," she said.

"I felt physically sick having to walk my child in-between all this.

"My son was so excited for his first day at secondary school but when we turned onto the street and saw the crowd, I could just tell he was terrified by it.

"I am so disappointed in the parents. In fact, I am absolutely disgusted."

The footage also shows a line of parked cars, creating a traffic jam, despite school guidance to walk to the site.

She added: "We are supposed to be a prime example to our children – but there was no social distancing whatsoever.

"The school has signs up and we even had letters sent out. Yet, still, parents took no notice.

"We have been in lockdown for four months so social distancing shouldn't really be hard now."

The academy has been contacted for their reaction.
