Mum disgusted after finding 'maggots' in her son's Kinder egg from B&M

A mum was horrified after she claims she found " maggots " in her two-year-old son's Kinder egg .

Karly Mulligan, 28, bought the treat from B&M Bargains on Wednesday but when she got home, she says she found "strange markings" all over the egg .

She said: "We decided to prod them with a knife and then all of a sudden what looked like a little yellow maggot popped out and landed on the kitchen counter.

"I was horrified. I quickly grabbed my phone and started filming as we poked some more of the marks and more came out.

"It is a parent's worst nightmare. Imagine if I had given that to my son. He isn't old enough to know that it would look strange."

The mother-of-two, from Arnold, Nottinghamshire, complained to B&M and Kinder and both are investigating.

Kinder told her it would send her an envelope in which she should send the egg back to its UK headquarters in Greenford, west London, Nottinghamshire Live reported.

But after closer inspection of the packaging, Karly claims she found the egg was more than a year out of date.

She continued: "I had bought two LOL eggs and a Batman egg at the same time. It was only the batman one that was affected.

"It has made me quite worried about this in the future and I want other people to know just in case.

"I decided to put my video on Facebook  and it has now gone viral. After four of the maggots came out we stopped and wrapped it back up again. There could be more inside there.

"I am not after compensation but I do want people to know about this. I think it is important."

B&M said the incident would be investigated.

A spokeswoman for B&M said: "The quality of our products is of the utmost importance to us and we believe this to be an isolated incident. We’ll be investigating this with our supplier."

Kinder has been contacted for a response.
