Mum discovers 'amazing' trick that stops avocados from going brown

It's notoriously hard to judge when an avocado is ready.

These pesky fruits remain hard as stone for what seems a lifetime - before turning into a brown mush the moment your back is turned.

But one crafty mum has shared her simple process for ensuring her family have access to perfect avocados, whenever they like.

The founder of Facebook page 'Slow Cooker Recipes & Tips' revealed she found a way to keep the fruits green for longer, says Mirror Online .

"This is a little trick I've been doing with avocado," she posted.

The mum then revealed she has been freezing sliced avocados fresh out of the skin, making them easy to use in meals and sandwiches.

She said: "I heard that you can buy it frozen, but was never able to find it anywhere. So I thought, 'why not freeze it myself?'.

"It works amazingly well."

The mum says you can stop the fruit browning in the freezer but only if you follow her instructions, as reported by the Daily Mail .

After buying a fresh avocado, cut it in half, take the pit out and slice it or cut it into chunks.

Lay it all out on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze.

Then remove the frozen slices after one day and put them all into one bag and throw them back in the freezer.

Freezing them separately first prevents the pieces of fruit from sticking together and allows you to use it one slice at a time. Genius, if you ask us.

Other people who had never considered freezing avocados are loving her trick.

"I had no idea it froze," one wrote. "I hate wasting the left over avocado as no one else eats it in my house."

Another said: "This will change my life! I bought frozen avocado and it was horrible."

A third replied: "This is the solution to my ever squishy avocado issues."
