Mum dies next to daughter, woman broke sex order and warning to home owners

These are the latest ECHO headlines this morning.

Kiss Chat user broke sex order imposed to protect kids

A woman who was sent lingerie by men she met online received child abuse pictures from a paedophile.

Michelle Griffiths previously served a 40 month sentence after she was jailed in May 2019 for facilitating and arranging the commission of a child sex offence. The 38-year-old was also given a sexual harm prevention order for life.

Griffiths, was back in court on Monday after she admitted breaching a number of the conditions of the sexual harm prevention order. Chris Hopkins, prosecuting, told Liverpool Crown Court on Monday that Griffiths was released from prison in January 2021 and was living at Adelaide House in Edge Hill when she admitted breaching the order to authorities in March last year.

Griffiths admitted receiving money and lingerie from a man on a site called Kiss Chat, which breached the order. This was because she was prohibited from using a device with access to the internet without telling police within 48 hours and because she used a "social networking application or service without first providing her username to police".

The court heard an officer spoke to Griffiths that day under caution. Shortly after this, Griffiths made a further admission to authorities that she had received "indecent images of children by a man she had been talking to" who she described as a "paedophile", prosecutor Mr Hopkins told the court. Warning to people wanting to sell their home this year

Housing experts have issued a warning to anybody wanting to sell their home this year.

Prospective home sellers hoping to agree a deal by Christmas Day may need to get their home on the market by early November, analysis suggests. Last year homes took an average of 52 days to sell, according to property website the HomeOwners Alliance's "find an estate agent" service.

A lack of homes to choose from compared with house hunter numbers helped to underpin strong competition in the housing market. Cuts to stamp duty, announced in the recent mini-budget, may also spur some buyers on.

However, recent surges in mortgage rates, which have followed the mini-budget, will have an impact on housing affordability and there has been speculation that house prices may fall in the months ahead. The potential savings that some buyers can make as a result of stamp duty cuts may also be wiped out by higher mortgage rates.

The Bank of England base rate, which has also put an upward pressure on borrowing costs, is expected to rise further. Individual circumstances will vary and while some buyers may prefer to wait to see what happens with mortgages and house prices, others may want to secure a deal sooner rather than later. Nicole's cousin Kim has now set up a fundraising page to help support 36-year-old Craig, who is training to be a carpet fitter, and their children through this difficult time. The GoFundMe, which has passed its £10,000 target, will "help to ease the financial burden".

Kim told the Liverpool ECHO : "She picked up Delilah at 11.30am from nursery and was expected to pick her other children up later. She just passed away on the couch. She was an absolutely gorgeous young girl. She didn't have a bad bone in her body. Read the full story here.
