Mum died from brain bleed months after her teenage son had a fatal allergic reaction

A mother who complained of having a headache died days after her 36th birthday - and only months after her son died from a fatal allergic reaction to a meal.

Kim Kelly suffered a bleed on her brain as a result of undiagnosed leukaemia, according to Liverpool Echo. In March last year, her 16-year-old son Nick died after suffering a severe allergic reaction from eating a kebab.

Nick, from Prescot, near Liverpool, was allergic to nuts, Wales Online reported.

Hours before Kim was taken to hospital in an ambulance, dad and husband Chris Kelly explained his wife had said: "I feel like I'm dying."

Chris, 45, said: “Well to be honest she was very reluctant to go to doctors over anything but it all started off with just a headache.

“She had a headache on Monday and by Tuesday she was okay again. But then on Thursday night I took her up to bed and she said ‘I feel like I'm dying.’

“Then Friday morning we woke up and I had to physically dress her, take her downstairs and wait for the ambulance.”

Kim celebrated her 36th birthday on September 7 and died in hospital on September 13.

Chris said that other than the headache that occurred just days before her death, there were ‘no other signs’ of Kim having leukaemia.

He said: “We knew nothing about it , no signs, no nothing. She just went into hospital with a headache.

“When she was in the ambulance she had two seizures and they did some scans and found out she had a massive bleed on the brain.

“They told me it had popped a day or so before she passed away.”

The tragedy came just months after they lost teenage son Nick.

Chris said: "There wasn't a bad bone in him, he'd do anything for anyone.

"It was heartbreaking at the hospital, there were about 30 kids in the waiting room to say goodbye to him.

"From the Sunday until the Wednesday when he passed away, there were at least 15 children at the hospital. Nick touched so many people."

"Miss you shouting down to me to make a brew for you. We are missing you more than words can say.

"It hurts my throat when I cry myself to sleep at night my heart feels so heavy and so empty.

"You were taken away from us way way to soon, just like Nick was Kim. God has taken another angel away from us."

Chris is now looking to take part in a charity walk from Prescot to Newquay to raise money for Leukaemia UK.

He said that he loves walking so thought ‘why not’ raise some money for a good cause in the meantime.

He added: “I want to raise £50,000 but anything will do, to be honest. I am also hoping people can join me for five, 10 or 15 miles at a time, even if they just walk a small section.”
