Mum desperate to get her son a Leeds United themed bionic arm to stop him being bullied

A Leeds mother has is desperately attempting to raise enough funds to give her son the best life she can so that he can 'live his life to the fullest'.

Billy Gregson, 9, was born with a limb difference with his right arm and hand.

This, meaning his right arm is significantly shorter than his left, leaving him with limited movement on his right, which also only having two fingers.

Born naturally right-handed, this drastically affects Billy's everyday life - so much so that he is unable to do the simpler tasks which we take for granted. Without aid, Billy is unable to use his right arm for much at all.

Billy's mother, Donna, said: "I just want him be able to live his life to the fullest - he has a lot of difficulties.

"Everyday tasks are very difficult for him without help.

"He cannot get dressed, he cannot cook, he struggles with so much. He's also right-handed, so it's really tough for him."

Sadly, Billy has also been subjected to bullying at his school because of his arm.

Donna said: "He does get teased a lot - he gets bullied. It really affects him.

"He wants to do whatever he can to have a normal arm."

With the NHS only able to offer prosthetic limbs, which are said to uncomfortable and, in a sense, pointless due to a lack of practicality, the family are now seeking to get a custom bionic arm made.

The family are scheduled to drive down to Bristol for a consultation next to Wednesday.

However, in order for Billy to have the arm, the family will have to raise a significant amount of money

Donna said: "I am on a Facebook group for parents of children with limb differences, and we became aware of bionic arms in the UK.

"However, we were not aware of just how much money we would have to raise in order for this to become reality.

"Billy is so excited that this is even a possibility.

"He's a huge Leeds United fan - so he wants his bionic arm to be Leeds United themed!"

The family have recently set-up a GoFundMe page to attempt to raise enough funds for the surgery.

Donna said: "I cannot thank people enough who have already donated.

"This really would make his dreams come true."
