Mum caught driving on cocaine and cannabis with child in back seat

A mum was caught driving under the influence of cocaine and cannabis while a child sat in the back of the car with no seat belt.

Police pulled over a Ford Ka in Dock Road, Wallasey, at around 11am today.

The 25-year-old driver was tested at the roadside for drugs after officers noticed an "unrestrained child" in the rear seat.

Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit said on Twitter: "Female driver stopped due to carrying unrestrained child In rear seat.

"Provided positive roadside drug test for cannabis and cocaine."

A spokeswoman for the force said the woman had been taken into custody for questioning.

The child was taken in by a family member before officers left the scene.
