Mum called 'selfish' and 'screamed at' when trying to get on bus and has police called on her

A mum claims police had to be called after she was 'screamed' and sworn at during a row over buggies on a bus.

The woman says she was called a "c**t" and "queue jumper" and that another mum even "tried to shove [her] off the bus" after she decided to go to a previous bus stop to make sure there was room for her and her child – but she doesn't think she's done anything wrong.

The mum said she had just picked her infant up from her childminder, when she arrived at the bus stop and realised there were already two mums with buggies waiting there, she told Mumsnet's Am I Being Unreasonable? forum.

"Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there" she said.

When the bus arrived at the original stop, only one of the two mums who had been waiting was allowed on, and the other told to wait for 30 minutes for the next bus reports the Mirror.

The mum who had gone to the previous stop in order to get on says she was met with a barrage of abuse as a result and even claims the police turned up after being called by the driver – however she doesn't think she did anything wrong.

The situation divided people on the forum, with one mum branding her "really selfish", and another calling her "sneaky".

"Was your pushchair foldable?" one asked. "You acted knowing that you would be taking the place of someone who had been waiting longer than you.

"Technically you didn't break any rules, but you were selfish and sneaky in your actions. If your pushchair was foldable then you could have folded it, put it in the bag bit and held your child."

However, others think the mum did what she had to to make sure she was able to get on the bus. One person commented: "In my opinion, you just did the clever thing. Tough luck to the other one!". A second added: "You were smarter than them. I'd have done the same."

"It's not queue jumping to get on at an earlier stop. There is nothing which obligates you to board the bus at any particular stop," said a third.
