Mum buys £300 iPad on Amazon and they deliver Christmas baubles instead

A woman has been left out of pocket by Amazon after she received a box of Christmas baubles instead of the iPad she had ordered.

Milly Dufficey, 29, ordered the iPad from the retail giant in the Cyber Monday sales. Intending to give it as a Christmas gift, she paid £309 for the item, with it now going up in price to £329, which she claims has left her £20 out of pocket, should she want to replace the missing item.

StokeonTrentLive reported that Milly couldn’t believe her eyes when she opened up her Amazon parcel, discovering instead of the piece of Apple technology, the box contained baubles, a box of glue, glass and LED lights.

She was at work when the parcel was delivered to her home in Stoke.

After notifying Amazon of the problem, the company has launched an investigation into what happened, agreeing to refund the cost of the original iPad. However, this is not something that Milly is satisfied with, saying that as the price of the iPad has since gone up, she is now £20 further out of pocket.

Milly said: "In the box wasn't an iPad. It looks like it was for Wilko or something. I searched for some of the items on Amazon and I couldn't find some of the things.

"I spoke to Amazon and they said they would send UPS to come and collect the parcel. I paid £309 for the iPad but it is now priced at £329 - and they won't pay the difference.

"I'm quite shocked because I shop through Amazon often. It's not what I need this close to Christmas. It's getting closer to Christmas and I'm getting really stressed about it.

"I have also heard from people who have said that they have had the same happen to them when they've ordered an iPhone or another Apple product. They've ended up with different things that are really cheap."

Amazon have provided comment on the situation, with a spokesman for the company saying: "We launched an investigation and reached out to the customer to make things right."

The company have reportedly carried out an investigation into the case, but are yet to disclose the findings.
