Mum 'burst out laughing' in Aldi after spotting unfortunate font on hand gels

A mum has urged Aldi to reconsider the font on its 'lemon fizz' range of hand gels after she misread the labels to mean something slightly more inappropriate.

Stacey Jane visited an Aldi store in Rustington, West Sussex, this week to carry out her food shop when she "burst out laughing" in front of the display.

The store's own brand 49p Lacura hand gel range offers scents including candy hearts and strawberry, but the 40-year-old says the elaborate font on the bottles of lemon fizz means the F appears to look more like a J.

The mum-of-four couldn't resist snapping a photo and shared it to Facebook, writing: 'I’m thinking that Aldi need to change their font... I didn’t think that said fizz' - but others joked lockdown was making her see things.

And it turns out the font had forced other shoppers to double take, too, as customers alerted Aldi to the problem on Twitter. One wrote: "Can't help but think Aldi should've double checked the font on their Lemon Fizz hand gel. Great for the skin apparently."

Nail technician Stacey, who lives in Worthing, said "I thought 'oh that’s new', looked at it and thought 'oh my lord'.

"I just burst out laughing in the middle of Aldi and people were looking at me like I’d completely lost my marbles.

"It was one of those things where you think 'I have got to take a picture and I have got to share this because it's hilarious'.

"I thought people would find it so funny and it would cheer everybody up.

"I shared it on my Facebook as well as the Aldi page and mostly people were laughing at it. They knew immediately, for sure. If they’re laughing at it then they knew what I saw.

"This was the first time I had seen something like that."

After Stacey shared in with friends and on social media, it racked up comments as some people joked lockdown was making the mum see things that weren't there.

One wrote: "That may say more about your mind than it does about the font."

Aldi has been contacted for comment.
