Mum 'broken' by death of teenage son 'who thought is was his job to make others laugh'

A mum has been left "completely broken" following the death of her teenage son.

Paul Quinn passed away last week after suffering from mental health problems.

Devastated Christine Cunningham said the 19-year-old Cardonald lad battled bipolar and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders.

But she explained that her "smart and bright" son could never accept praise from others, the Daily Record reports.

Paul, who had been staying in Hamilton, died in the early hours of Thursday morning.

And a balloon release will be held tomorrow (Monday) to celebrate his life at Penilee Farm around 6pm.

Christine said: "I'm just completely broken.

"He was such a funny boy and always felt like it was his job to make other people laugh and raise their spirits.

"You can see how loved he was just through his Facebook. Such a smart and bright boy, but he could never accept praise off of anybody, he didn't know how to.

A fundraiser has been set up to help Paul Quinn's family following his tragic death (Daily Record)

"Paul would put a smile on everybody's face when he was in a room.

"Just an amazing person who was never shy about telling you exactly how much he loved you."

Paul's gran added: "I can't believe I've lost my grandson and I'll never see him again.

"19 is just far too young to die, he was a wee swine at times but he would have done anything to help anyone. RIP Paul, I love you and miss you always."

A fundraiser has since been set up in Paul's name to help his family with costs.

It was launched by his sister-in-law Shannon McDonald who hoped to raise £1,000 - a total already passed.

The page was flooded with messages of support from well-wishers, who described Paul as a "lovely boy".
