A mum savagely broke her daughter's nose in a furious spat over a boxing match.
The woman has now been ordered to pay her child £500 in damages and has been prohibited from seeing her for a year.
Theresa Carroll, aged 39, grabbed her student daughter Chantelle Caroll, 19, by the hair and struck her in the face after the teenager kicked up a fuss over her inviting friends over to watch the televised Anthony Joshua boxing fight close to Christmas 2020.
Manchester Evening News reports that during the brawl, which occurred whilst the family had to abide by Tier 2 Covid-19 restrictions, retail worker Carroll rang the police to claim that her daughter was being aggressive. However, the girl grabbed the phone off her.
In the struggle, Chantelle was attacked and dragged to the floor, and left with a bloody nose.
She began to film her mother, who shouted: '‘Get out of my house''. Chantelle could then be heard retorting ‘Smile for the camera’ and added: ''I don't want to see you again!''
The teenager, who is currently studying sports science at Nottingham Trent University, was later treated for her broken nose at A&E in Macclesfield General Hospital.
She has not spoken to her mother since the attack almost exactly a year ago.
At Stockport Magistrates' Court, mother of three Carroll, of Windsor Close, Bollington, who admitted common assault, tried to reach out to her daughter, urging her to reconcile and saying she still had Christmas presents to give her from last year.
But she was issued with a restraining order banning her from contacting her daughter for a year.
''She would just like the relationship with her daughter to resume,'' defence lawyer Peter Casson told magistrates.
''She wants to have her home for Christmas. She has presents to give her from last Christmas, her birthday and for this Christmas.
"But unfortunately it seems this is not going to happen. She is still the mother to that young girl. She still cares about her daughter.''
The incident occurred on December 12th last year after Carroll had invited friends round to watch heavyweight champion Joshua defeat Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev by a knockout to defend his IBF, WBA and WBO belts.
Chantelle had been working all day at a hotel and was said to be angry as she wanted the 'house to herself.'
Mr Casson added: ''She had picked her daughter up from work and there soon became an issue. The daughter became very aggressive, said she had been working all day and wanted the house to herself.
"That was a catalyst to what took place.
''This defendant got on the phone to the police whilst her daughter was goading her for a reaction. She wanted the daughter out of the house but she would not leave and accepted the red mist came over her.
''She regrets it and is mortified that she found herself in that position. She has three children, two of which are at university and the other is a 12-year-old boy.
"The relationship between herself and Chantelle has been difficult. She said she was difficult as a child and would often be absent from school but she stood by her.
''On this day, it was not her intention to have a fight with her. She was looking forward to having some friends around in the evening and everything would have been okay but her daughter had different ideas.
"It was a reckless act and she lost the plot in that moment of madness. Her daughter seemed to be taking over her house.''
The lawyer went on: 'She did not want to put her daughter through a trial so pleaded guilty but her daughter does not want anymore contact with her. She wants to put this behind her and move on with her own life. She says her daughter is welcome whenever she wants to come back. This is a one off incident.”
Earlier, Nick Smart, prosecuting, said: ''On 12 Dec 2020 around 3.30pm police were called to a domestic incident report from Chantelle Carroll who said her mother had assaulted her.
''There was an argument, the defendant said she was having friends over to watch the boxing. She said it was her house and she would do as she pleased but she then grabbed her daughter by the hair and struck her in the face.
"She then left the house. Chantelle was taken to A&E where it became apparent that she had broken her nose.
“In a police interview, she said her daughter had become more and more aggressive towards her. She said she asked her to leave but she would not leave. She said her daughter said ‘we are not having anyone around.’
''She felt threatened and called the police on 101. She said: 'I am having friends around' but she said her daughter then grabbed her phone at which point she then admitted to grabbing her hair and pulling her to the floor.
"Chantelle screamed that did not want anymore contact with her. She also said her daughter called her a 'f..king bitch' and claimed that she could have attacked her.
“There is a mobile phone video recording of mum shouting ‘Get out of my house’ and her daughter then saying ‘Smile for the camera.’
“A statement from her daughter described her nose was heavily bleeding for some time and she was taken to Macclesfield Hospital to get it checked out where they confirmed her nose was broken as a result of the punch from her mum.”
Carroll was also ordered to complete a 12 community order and ordered to complete 120 hours unpaid work plus 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days. She will also have to pay £180 in costs and surcharges.
Magistrate, Dominic Stone told her: “You were provoked and we do not believe this was premeditated. You have also now lost your good character and you have shown remorse. However this was not your finest hour. Regardless of what went on before, you broke your daughter's nose."
