Mum breaks into tears at Aldi after 'aggressive' speed of cashier

A mum has spoken about how she was brought to tears at Aldi due to the "aggressive approach" of the cashier and speed of the supermarket's conveyor belts.

Nicola Fuller was finishing her weekly shop at the German-owned supermarket when the confrontation happened - as Teeside Live reports.

The 35-year-old says she was loading her shopping as quickly as possible but couldn't keep up with the pace as the cashier was scanning the items.

The Teeside mum was shopping with her three children - aged 2, 3 and 7 - and claimed other customers in the store started to notice the commotion as food started to fall from the packing area.

She said: "He could see my struggle and when a tin finally fell, I began crying and shaking.

"I knelt to the floor to pick up the food while simultaneously trying to watch my children.

"I asked the cashier to please stop scanning through more food and that it felt like he was throwing the items at me."

The outraged mum claims the cashier disregarded her struggled in a "blunt and aggressive" manner - before calling her a "liar" for her accusations.

At this point, another Aldi worker swooped in to diffuse the tense altercation - before the cashier finally walked away.

Nicola explained: "The other worker was very lovely and understanding - but the incident has personally knocked my confidence.

"Shopping with three children can be challenging enough without suffering panic and anxiety at the checkout and leaving the store in tears.

"I was shocked how someone in customer care could disregard my struggle with no empathy or care whatsoever. It's totally unacceptable."

Nicola says the incident has made her worried to enter Aldi again and she reported the incident to the supermarket's customer care team, who told her they have raised the issue with the area manager.

In response to the incident, an Aldi spokesperson said: “Our colleagues are trained to work at a pace suitable for each individual customer.

"We have spoken to Ms Fuller to apologise for her experience at the Guisborough store and hope to see her again in the future.”
