Mum 'blown away' by kind-hearted gesture of white van man on visit to McDonald's

A mum says she was "blown away" by the generous act of a complete stranger during a visit to McDonald's with her children.

Megan Downy took her daughters and nephews to the restaurant in Belfast to pick up some dinner for them all from the drive-thru.

She placed an order for three happy meals, a McChicken sandwich meal, two triple cheese burgers and a medium fries, before moving on to the next window to pay, Belfast Live reports.

But when she got there, she found that the man in the van in front of her in the queue had paid for all of the meals for her.

Staff told Megan she didn't owe a penny (file photo) (PA)

The mum was left stunned by the kind-hearted gesture, and staff informed her that the man pays for a stranger's meal every week.

Megan said: "When I was told that the man in the van in front of us had paid for our order I thought I was being pranked and it was some sort of scam.

"I was worried that they might have paid for the order and taken it with them as well.

"But I was told that it wasn't a big joke and he had kindly paid for our food as a nice gesture.

"I really couldn't believe it and caught up with the man to say thank you to him because it really meant a lot.

"Apparently he goes to the McDonald's every week and does it for someone different, which is such a lovely thing to do.

"I have no idea who he is, but he really made our day and it sounds like he has done the same for many others."
