Mum blasts haters after criticism over letting daughter, 9, have nose pierced

A mum has blasted haters who criticised her after she let her 9-year-old daughter get her nose pierced. Meagan Black has split social media after allowing her child to get the controversial piercing, reports the Mirror.

The mum of four, from the US, who regularly shares videos of her family on TikTok, has clapped back at trolls after receiving criticism over her parenting. She recently took issue with one particular comment from a user in a clip.

The user said: "You're a bad mum for letting your nine-year-old have a nose piercing". Under the video, she wrote the caption: "But why is it just 'so cute' when a two-year-old is wearing a crop top but y’all flip over a nose ring?"

The video has now been seen by almost one million people, and it's safe to say it's divided opinions. Many people believe that nine is "way too young" to get a nose piercing.

They expressed worry about "healing" and "keeping it clean" at that age. One person said: "Personally I think nine is way to young, I'd let them get it in middle school but you do you!"

Another added: "I got a nose piercing myself but nine is a bit too early because the nose hasn't fully grown yet." A third stated: "Nine really is a bit young.

"I think the youngest I'd let my child do this would be 13/14. You're not a bad mum and if I was your child and I've been begging for it I'd be very happy, but I'd be too afraid that they'd regret it later or that their nose isn't completely grown yet."

However, other people took the other side of the debate and praised Meagan for letting her daughter get her nose pierced. One person said: "I think it's awesome you’re letting your kids express themselves."

Another agreed stating: "I don't think she's a bad mum. Who cares?

"She can do what she wants with her daughter, it's not our business." A third simply added: "Nothing wrong with it."

In a separate video, Meagan and her daughter answered some questions about the nose piercing, and she explained the reason behind it. Meagan said: "I let her get her nose pierced because she does not like earrings.

"She says that they are ugly and all she wanted was her nose pierced. So, in Illinois, where we live, a minor can get a piercing with parent consent and there is no age restriction."

She also asked her daughter in the clip: "Did you want the piercing or did I force you?" The daughter replied: "I wanted it."
