Amazon's 'hateful' Let's Make Downs Syndrome Extinct t-shirts condemned by mum

A horrified mum has blasted Amazon after "Let's Make Down's Syndrome Extinct" t-shirts were advertised on its website.

Raging Stacey Corrigan - whose son Daniel, six, has Down's - branded the slogan "hateful", insisting it should be treated as a crime.

The 34-year-old Paisley mum said: "I can't believe they have been allowed to sell this. Who even thinks up an idea to design this?

"Daniel is just perfect to us and we wouldn't change a thing about him."

The offensive t-shirts were first spotted by two mums in England, the Daily Record reports.

Rachel Mewes, 37, and friend Caroline Wylde, 36, complained that Amazon was "promoting hate crime" on its website.

Since the women complained Amazon removed the item from its website.

But Stacey, from Paisley, says she is furious that Amazon allowed the "hateful" t-shirts to be sold in the first place.

She added: "It is so hateful and should be a crime.

"They wouldn't be able to write homophobic slogans or racists ones.

"To target a group who are disabled is just disgusting and I am horrified Amazon gave them a platform to share their hate."

Amazon refused to comment on the t-shirts when contacted by the Daily Record but did confirm they could no longer be found on the site.
