A woman is desperately trying to save her husband after the cold he was diagnosed with turned out to be a life-threatening disease.
Kirsty Coley, from Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire, is trying to raise more than £33,000 to pay for life-saving treatment for her husband Kevin, 43.
She told how her partner broke down on Christmas Eve after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, treatment for which isn’t available in the UK, BristolLive reports .
It took three years for Kevin to be properly diagnosed after he became sick on a trip to New York.
She said: “We were on a trip to New York in 2018 for Kevin’s fortieth birthday.
“He started feeling unwell with a sore throat, his voice was going and he was really tired.
“When we got back we visited the doctor who said it was just a common cold.
“From then until now his voice has completely gone. He struggles walking and he always trips up and has cracked his head open.
“For years the same doctor put it down to colds and stress. Then a few days before Christmas we were told it could be motor neurone disease.

“On Christmas Eve he was referred to a specialist at Southmead Hospital. They did tests on Kevin straight away which confirmed he has motor neurone disease.
“Now he’s broken down. He doesn’t want to leave me or his baby. He’s desperate to see him on his first day at nursery.”
Kirsty and Kevin’s baby, Jesse, is only 19-months old.
Now the pair are “begging” for donations for the former mechanic, whose condition is deteriorating day on day.
The fundraising is to hopefully get Kevin treatment in the Cayman Islands.
Kirsty said: “I’m begging for help from the whole word to donate for his treatment abroad as we cannot receive it in this country.
“Kevin is the most loving genuine man you could ever come across in life. Nineteen months ago one of his dreams came true to have his baby boy Jesse who he absolutely dotes on.
“He’s such a great father and would desperately love to take Jesse to his first day at school. With help from everyone we can make this happen and get him the treatment he deserves.
“I’m so desperate to stop my husband dying, it will kill us all.”
