Mum banned from having people round to house at centre of 'neighbourhood nuisance'

Reports of threats, shouting and assaults have led to a Merseyside property being partially shut down.

Working with Merseyside Police, Wirral Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team has served a Partial Closure Order on 27 Stringhey Road in Wallasey.

The local authority said the property had become a “hotspot for neighbourhood nuisance” with people visiting the address all day and night.

Behaviour such as assaults, but also foul language and people banging on the door to be let in, led to complaints starting on May 10.

A closure warning was then served on the tenant, but that did not change the situation.

The order, which the council gave notice of on July 8, allows only the tenant and her family to remain at the property.

It remains in force for three months until October 21, and it now prohibits any person from entering the property or garden areas, apart from the tenant, her two children, her sister, her parents or any person who has permission to do so from the Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Anyone found to be in the property without consent could be arrested and face a potential prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to £5,000 - or both.

Mark Camborne, Wirral Council's assistant director for neighbourhood safety and transport, said: "Cases such as these show how important it is for statutory partners to support those residents who are victims of anti-social behaviour and use the full powers available to us to act against people who makes life a misery for their neighbours.

“It is also vital that people report problems to us so we can take action."
