Mum baffled as her purple bins appear to be 'stolen' in bizarre video

By Phil Norris & Patrick Edrich

A mum is wondering if a serial bin thief is on the loose in her neighbourhood. It comes after she captured footage of her purple wheelie bins seemingly being stolen.

The bizarre incident has left Rebecca Harrison, 35, half furious and half amused. The video, which she has shared on social media, sees a man park outside her house, before getting out of his car, and then loading the wheelie bins into the car boot, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Rebecca, from the Garston district of Liverpool, said she and her partner returned home to find the bins had disappeared from outside the front of their home. After checking on their home's camera the family were baffled to see a man loading their bins into his car before driving off.

At first Rebecca said she was "fuming" at what had happened but after watching the footage a number of times she finds it hilarious. Rebecca said her partner noticed the missing bins after coming back from walking the dog. They believe the incident happened around 5.45pm on Tuesday, May 10.

Rebecca told the ECHO : "It's hilarious - everyone's laughing. I was baffled seeing the footage - it's just so strange, so bizarre.

"He's parked his car, put down the seats and loaded my bins. When I saw the footage I was half livid and half absolutely howling - it was a strange emotion.

"It's funny and bizarre but it's really cheeky as well. I'm now without any bins - I've got nowhere to put my bin bags. I'll have to message my mates and ask to share their bin."

The footage shows the man pulling up and waiting in his car until several cars drive past. Once the man sees he's in the clear he gets out his car and loads the bins into the back of the car before driving away.

She added "everyone's laughing their head off" since she shared the video on Facebook and Twitter.

She said: "They're fuming for me as they can't get their head around why someone would steal a bin. People have been outraged but found it hilarious.

"I don't know who steals a bin - maybe someone's stolen his or he needs extra but doesn't want to pay for them.

"I'll have to warn the neighbours - there's a serial bin thief on the loose."
