Mum appeals for help after heartless thieves steal her car

A council worker has appealed for help to trace her car after thieves made off with it during the night.

Emma Marshall arrived at her partner's home in East Kilbride's Melbourne Avenue on Wednesday evening but when she returned around 5am the following morning the car was gone.

This meant she was unable to fulfil her duty as a polling clerk, leaving her hundreds of pounds out of pocket, and will now struggle to take one of her children to hospital appointments.

The blue Ford ST was parked on the street just yards from Emma's partner's home and she spoke to Lanarkshire Live about her misfortune, and to warn other motorists.

"I really don't want this to happen to anyone else. I'm absolutely gutted," she said.

"That's why I put the appeal on Facebook, to warn other people and hopefully someone might have spotted my car."

Emma went on: "I did hear a bit of noise about 10pm on Wednesday but I didn't think anything about it at the time. Looking back now, I think it was actually someone at my car.

"I always have my music up quite loud and I'm sure I heard loud music and then it being turned down.

"It is a keyless entry and I thought they were near impossible to steal but I have now been told there are ways around it.

"Also I've heard of numerous other cars – all Fords – being stolen around East Kilbride recently, so I don't know if they are being targeted."

Emma added: "It's just a nightmare for me without the car. I have two kids so I run back and forward with them quite a lot to various things and one of them has hospital appointments to attend.

"I also will find it difficult to get back and forward to my partner's in East Kilbride as I live in Paisley.

"There is also all the time and hassle of dealing with the insurers and it's not going to be resolved immediately.

"I have reported the theft to the police and if anyone knows anything, please get in touch with them."
