When you're dining out, trying to have a nice time, the last thing you want to happen is to be seated next to people who are behaving in an unruly way.
One woman was left appalled and wondering whether "parents literally just let their kids do what they want" after she witnessed some less-than-appealing dining etiquette from a child - but their parents were letting them get away with it.
The mum was horrified at the fact the baby's food was "plonked" on his high chair, and she was grossed out that he was "feeding himself with his hands" with "food going everywhere."

She took to Mumsnet to write: "So I know things have changed with parenting since I had my own children, my youngest is now 11, but do some parents literally just let their kids do what they want?
"Went for a meal yesterday with my husband and our children. A couple come in with their baby and they were seated near us. Highchair is brought over and they put him in but don't strap him in because he doesn't like to be strapped in. Mother said this to waitress.
"They order food and literally plonk a bowl of mash, veg, and gravy on the highchair for baby to eat. He puts his hands straight in and starts feeding himself with his hands, food is going everywhere, and his parents are looking at him and saying 'what a great boy he is'."
But the chaos didn't stop there, as the baby had "food everywhere" and his parents made a "half-hearted attempt" to clean him up - but this resulted in an "almighty tantrum, and him nearly falling out of the highchair because he wasn't strapped in."
The disgruntled mum continued: "Dessert comes and the same thing with a bowl of ice cream, it's everywhere. They then give him a sippy cup that spills all over him because obviously it's not one for his age group.

"He screams to get out of the high chair, his father takes him out and lets him bang cutlery on the table, pull soil from a nearby plant pot and again spill water everywhere. All the parents kept saying to staff was 'oh sorry, he is just so independent and clever for his age'.
"I was appalled, to be honest. I spoke to my friend who is a childminder and stressed that yes unfortunately a lot of parents are now like this."
In the comments, people said that babies eat in a messy way and that's normal, with some saying "mind your own business".
One wrote: "At least they didn't get a tablet/phone out for him, that's something I see regularly now, usually with sound on and no headphones."
"I don't get the issue. Babies are messy. You sound very judgmental", someone fumed.
Another said: "I have a baby and he is spoon-fed in restaurants to avoid mess. Regular gurgling is fine, but if he starts crying we take him outside for a bit or head home.
"I'll tell you what's more annoying though - parents who have never explained to their three-year-olds that we speak quietly and don't roam in restaurants."
Would what the baby did annoy you? Let us know in the comments.
