Mum and son, 10, went missing after council issued care proceedings - police are 'anxious' to find them

A mum and her young son who are believed to have travelled to Oldham went missing after a council issued care proceedings, it was revealed today.

Kelly Jefferies is 42 and her son, Knox, is 10.

Both were named in full today after a hearing of the High Court sitting in Bristol.

A judge said Kelly and Knox went missing from the Patchway area of Bristol on or about July 28 following the issuing of care proceedings by South Gloucestershire Council.

No further details were revealed.

Avon and Somerset Police believe Kelly and Knox travelled to the Oldham area - and have previously urged anybody who spots them to call 999 immediately.

Judge Stephen Wildblood QC issued an appeal to the press and the public to help locate them.

Their current whereabouts, the court heard, are unknown.

The Judicial Office tweeted a statement on behalf of the Courts and Tribunals Judiciary.

It said: "In a hearing in Bristol today, HHJ Wildblood QC, sitting as a Judge of the High Court in Bristol, invited the press and the public to assist in finding a mother and child.

"The child is Knox Jefferies, who is aged 10.

"The mother is Kelly Jefferies, who is aged 42.

"Following the issue of care proceedings by South Gloucestershire Council, the mother and Knox went missing from the Patchway area of Bristol on or about 28th July 2021.

"They are believed to have travelled, initially, to the Oldham area of Manchester.

"However, their whereabouts remain unknown and it is not known whether they remain in that area.

"The Bristol court, police and South Gloucestershire Council are anxious to locate the mother and child, in order to ensure their safety and wellbeing."

In a Twitter post, the force said: "Police and social services are concerned for Knox's safety and welfare."

Kelly is described as white, slim, around 5ft 2ins tall with brown hair and brown eyes.
