Mum and kids baffled by 'strange light' over town

A mum who filmed a "strange light" while out in the park with her kids says she is "baffled" as to what it could be.

Carly Furlonger, from Ellesmere Port had been visiting her local park on September 2 when she spotted the moving light in the sky.

She captured footage of the unusual sight on her camera during a visit to Luton Road Park in the town and says she has "no idea" what it could have been.

Speaking to the ECHO, Carly, who posted a video of the light on Youtube which has attracted hundreds of views, said: "I take the kids to the park every night after work and it was about quarter past eight when I noticed it.

"The kids were all freaked out wondering what it was.

"It seemed to go slower, stop slightly and then speed up again.

"The kids were asking is it a plane? Is it a comet? but they usually go the other way, not upwards, so I had no idea what it was.

"It was quite far away, down at the other end from town near Overpool.

"I have no ideas what it was - it looked like a comet but it was going in the wrong direction, most projectiles go straight up rather than on a slant, so not I wouldn't presume to hazard a guess.

"It was unusual, it was very bright, the phone doesn't do justice - the colours were changing and the speed was changing from slow to quick.

"I said no it could be anything don't worry about it, you're fine whatever it is."

The mum-of-three said she posted the footage online in the hopes someone might be able to identify what it was.

She said: "It would be interesting to know, the kids have asked the question, and are still asking.

"It would be nice to have an answer, although sometimes you have to say 'no idea'"

Carly says that since posting the footage online, various people have come forward with suggestions ranging from the far-fetched to the bizarre, but nobody yet has been be able to provide an answer.

She said: "I'd love to know what it is, maybe it will just remain one of those mysteries."
