Mum and her girl lose ten stone between them

A mother and her daughter have turned their lives around - after losing more than TEN stones between them.

For Gillian Semple and Samantha Kelly, its been a great doubt act. First Samantha signed up for Weight Watchers and mum Gillian gained the confidence to join her as she envied Samantha’s loss.

Gillian, of Ayr, had ballooned to a gut-busting 17stone 10 lbs, see picture below.

The 54-year-old is now 12st 4lbs and a size 14, down from a 20. Meanwhile Prestwick girl Samantha,30, has reduced from 14st 11lbs to a perfect size 8 of 9st 4lbs. Gillian said: “We supported each other every step of the way.She made me realise it is not a quick fix and it takes time and determination to take off the excess weight that has been gained over the years.”

The pair joined the WW class at the Mercure Hotel in Ayr .

What makes Gillian’s loss even more dramatic is she has suffered cancer, has lost her bladder, kidney glands and had six mini strokes and added; “My health wasn’t the best and I could’ve just sat back and decided to give up.

“I was all over the place in the first six weeks, but then something clicked and I could live with the WW Freestyle Plan.

“But my real inspiration was my daughter, and she was my reason to keep going and try my best. WW has given me life back, and also the ability to see and enjoy my grandchildren and there’s no price on that.”

It was going for nights out with her skinny friends that spurred Samantha into action.

The mum-of-two said: “They could pull on really nice clothes - I was the one having to wear baggy stuff to hide.”

Astonishingly she is now more than a stone UNDER her goal.

Samantha, pictured above at her heaviest, said: “My trousers and skirts were an 18, but now I’m wearing an eight. I have ditched three bars of chocolate a day as well as convenience foods. Now I cook fresh and healthy.I’m so happy I was able to inspire my mum to lose weight and get fit.”
