Mum and daughter go for the chop in a daring double act

A mum and daughter both decided to get their hair chopped for charity.

The double act saw Linwood schoolgirl Sarah Hailey go under the scissors first.

The fourth year pupil at St Benedict’s High went for the more radical cut tight to the scalp.

And mum Karen was brave enough to have her long brunette locks trimmed to a tight bob.

Now they’ve raised nearly £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And the pair have sent their bunches off to the Little Princess Trust for the use of children who have lost their hair.

A total of £950 was raised via the justgiving.com site and Sarah revealed this week she has received another £210 directly from family, friends, neighbours and pupils at St Benedict’s.

Sarah said: “We had both decided to donate our hair to the Little Princess Trust the next time we cut it.

“We then decided to raise money for a charity as well.

“We chose Macmillan to give the money to after a family member was recently diagnosed with cancer.

“We collected money online and in person by setting up a justgiving page and sharing it with people.

“I also went around my school receiving sponsors and donations from staff and pupils.”
