Mum and baby boy found after 'going missing while walking with pram'

Police in Manchester have confirmed that a mother and her baby son who went missing for three days have been found.

Sascha, 29, disappeared from the suburb of Blackley along with her child Clay on Saturday (August 6), according to Greater Manchester Police.

She had last been reported at 4pm that day, and was understood to have left for a walk along with a pram.

Her family and the Greater Manchester Police had appealed for members of the public to get in touch after growing concerned for the pair's welfare.

Both were found in a safe condition on Tuesday, according to officers. A short statement released late on Tuesday evening by the force said: “They have been found safe and well.”

No further action has been reported in the hours since.

The discovery followed three days of high-profile messaging by the police force on behalf of her family as they urgently worked to establish her whereabouts.

In an earlier appeal, Greater Manchester Police said: “Sascha is believed to be with her six-month-old son, Clay, and may be pushing him in a pram.

“Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for Sascha and Clay and want to make sure they are safe and well.”

Superintendent Sarah Morton said: “We are doing everything we can to find Sascha and Clay and ensure that they are safe and well.

"I also ask members of the public to be on the lookout for this young mum and her baby.

"Sascha, if you’re reading this, please contact us or someone trustworthy so we can check that you and Clay are safe and offer support."

The residential area of Blackley is located to the northwest of Manchester, and was once a rural village on the outskirts of the city before becoming part of its urban spread during mass house building programmes in the 1930s.
