All options remain open regarding a mum who admitted neglecting her child by getting drunk. The 45-year-old appeared for plea at Bristol Crown Court today. (May 27, 2022)
She pleaded guilty to causing cruelty to her five-year-old boy by wilfully neglecting him on March 26. The plea was accepted by the crown.
Judge William Hart told the court the woman, from Weston-super-Mare, had a "dreadful" criminal record. But he recognised she had not offended for some six years.

The judge said considerable intervention was needed and he ordered a probation report before sentence on July 18. He told the mum: "I make no promises at all as to the way I will deal with you. I reserve the matter to myself and all optoions are open."
The woman, who Bristol Live is not naming to protect the identity of her son, was told to cooperate with the probation sentence. She was bailed pending sentence.
