A mum has sparked a fierce debate after admitting that her family's sick bowl is the same one they use to bake with. Sarah Turner, whose Twitter username is The Unmumsy Mum, made the admission on the social media platform this weekend.
She said: "My kids have just discovered that the family sick bowl and the cake mix bowl are one and the same. In my defence, this was also the case when I was growing up... but now I've said it out loud, I realise I need to break the cycle. I won't be taking any further questions," she said.
In one reply, Birmingham Live reports, one mum said: "We all had the sickness bug a couple weeks ago I used every saucepan I had lol as we had at the same time . As soon as I was better I bought new ones and kept the old ones for future sickness." Simon said: "No. Plastic Bowl or down the toilet flush it straight away. All things used for food you keep separate. Well in my house I do."

The tweet also sparked other admissions, and Miranda Dickinson replied: "My mum had ‘the wee-wee glass’, used for whenever anyone had to take a urine sample to the doctor. But for the rest of the time it was a regular glass she’d give to visitors with squash in. She couldn’t understand why my sister and I would descend into hysterics whenever she did!"
Carrie wrote: "Never never never, yes it could be used but I wouldn't dream of using it again for baking. I have a plastic bowl that I keep with my cleaning gear for such times, but each to their own..." Caz said: "We have two buckets for this very reason. I would no way use mixing bowls, pans or anything we use for cooking. It's disgusting. I have chronic vomiting illnesses. Kitchen appliances are a big no no for use for illnesses."
Lynsey said: "A mixing bowl is often the biggest receptacle on hand for doubling as a sick bowl. As long as it's washed properly I see no issues. Let's face it, the same bowl may be used for making nutty, non-nutty, gluten, gluten-free, sweet and savoury products and no one complains about that."
"Think every house the same however we have now upgraded to the plastic tub inside the small peddle bin with a bit of bleach water to make it easier to rinse out," Rachel wrote. Dee said: "That's disgusting. We have a washing up bowl in the under sink cupboard specifically for this purpose.
"I don't care if it "can be washed up" it's still disgusting. I bet those that think this is ok, let their animals lick their plates, I bet they let them lick their faces too." Chloe said: "No no no no no."
