A woman extradited from New Zealand has appeared in a Sydney court accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter when she was allegedly part of a cult 35 years ago.

Ellen Rachel Craig did not apply for bail when she came before Central Local Court on Friday, after arriving in Sydney on Thursday.

The 60-year-old is accusing of murdering Tillie Craig near Oberon in central NSW in July 1987.

Bail was formally refused and the case was listed for mention on June 15.

Police allege the little girl was beaten to death with plastic tubing.

A 70-year-old man was arrested in November and charged over his alleged role in Tillie's murder. (AAP)

Her remains were allegedly disposed of at a rural property at Porters Retreat near Oberon.

The property served as the headquarters of the cult The Ministry of God, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty told reporters on Thursday.

In October 2019, detectives from the Unsolved Homicide Unit received a tip-off about the young girl's disappearance.

This led to a 70-year-old man being arrested in November 2021 at Porters Retreat and charged over his alleged role in the murder.

He remains before the courts.
