A mum and her daughter have spoken about their adventures together as they work as flight attendants for the same airline.
Kim Crawford, 60, and her daughter Sophie, 29, are both cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and have enjoyed flights across the globe, including to New York.
The married mum of three from Pelsall, West Midlands, decided she needed a career shake-up after spending years caring for her elderly parents.
She impulsively applied to become a flight attendant when she was 56, which inspired her daughter to do the same.
Sophie decided to join her mum at 35,000 feet in the air and now the pair are lucky enough to work together.
Kim - who also has two sons, Mitchell, 35 and Nathan, 33 - said: "I honestly can't say I have one favourite part of the job. There are so many things I love."
The woman, who has trained to be a Covid vaccinator whilst grounded on furlough, added: "We both can't wait to be back up in the air, it's a very rewarding career and to get the chance to travel the world with my daughter by my side is very special.
"I am so proud of my beautiful and intelligent daughter. She works so hard and I am very proud to walk behind her on board and call her both my daughter and my work colleague."
Sophie, who previously worked as a model, said: "Mum is so inspiring, I saw how passionate and excited she was when she first started with Thomas Cook and I thought 'this is something I want to do too.'"
The 29-year-old, who has been with her partner Lee Myatt for six years, added: "When I applied for Virgin and got accepted mum was so proud.
"I didn't know that she had also applied in secret - she was worried she wouldn't get the job, but two weeks after I was accepted, so was she. We couldn't believe it, it's been such an adventure.
"It's an incredible career with an amazing company and it provides us with so many opportunities.
"I forget to call her Kim when we are at work and sometimes on board I say 'mum can you get me', the passengers love it.
"They are always shocked when they realise my mum and I work together and we have so much fun together, it's a hard job but very rewarding.
"She does sometimes go in to mum mode though and I have to remind her she can't tell me what to do when we are on board.
"We are really close, we live two minutes away and she is my best friend. It's incredible to be able to see the world with her."
The mum and daughter duo have looked after a number of famous people on board too, including actor Danny DeVito and golfer Gary Player.
And they have been lucky enough to take their family on trips away too.
The duo's flight career path started after Kim decided she needed a challenge, having worked part-time jobs around her care commitments.
"I was very excited to spread my wings, excuse the pun," Kim laughed.
The woman, who has been married to husband Derek for over 30 years, decided to impulsively Google 'part time cabin crew' and found a vacancy for a summer contract with former airline Thomas Cook.
But when her daughter Sophie got the job at Virgin, she joined too.
Kim said: "My passion is people. I love different cultures and ways of life, I find it so fascinating and the job is perfect for that.
"I love meeting people from all walks of life and from all over the world. We have multinational crew too which is fantastic and in the job I have made so many friends of all ages.
"Most of the team are aged 18-35 so I'm decades older but I gave it my all and passed the training.
"Sometimes people think we just serve tea and coffee but there is so much more to the job.
"I love the freedom to see the world - that is priceless.
"I just thought one day, I'm going to go for it and we are both so glad I did.
"We love our jobs and working together makes it even better."
