Mum, 28, dies after collapsing in Butlins during family holiday

A young mother died suddenly while on holiday with her young family in Butlins.

Jodie O'Connell, 28, was at the Skegness resort with her family when she collapsed on October 14.

The mother of one was immediately rushed to hospital in Nottingham where it was discovered she had suffered an aneurysm but tragically died two days later.

Her husband Mikey O'Connell said he felt "numb" after the death of his wife, the Manchester Evening News reports.

In a touching tribute he wrote: "Unfortunately my gorgeous beautiful amazing wonderful wife Jodie O'Connell gained her angel wings last night she died peacefully in her sleep and in no pain.

“Those who try hard to keep her with us I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“I've told our gorgeous little princess and she is upset but she knows mummy loves her to the moon and back again.

“At this time we would appreciate some privacy over the coming days to allow us to process what has happened."

He added: "“Jodie I love you more than you could ever imagine and I don't know what I'm going to do without you. You are my world and always will be.

“Fly high princess keep watching over me and Keira because lord knows I'm going to need it.”

Jodie, from the Marsh Green area, had worked at BAE Systems as a human resource advisor before her death.

In another heartbreaking tribute, Mikey said: “It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my 30 years on this earth. I'm heartbroken, distraught, dumbstruck and everything in between I'm so numb it's unreal.

“Words can never describe how much you mean to me Jodie O'Connell just know I love you to the moon and stars a million times over and back again.

“I don't know what I'm going to do without you I need you in my life but sadly you've gone to a better place as your time with me is finished, I'm glad you weren't in any pain and hope you are at peace.

“I promise you I'll look after our gorgeous daughter and do you proud.

“I miss you and I wish you were here. You are my everything and always will be. Sleep tight angel.”

A spokesperson for Butlin's said: "We're deeply saddened by this tragic news and our thoughts go out to family and friends at this incredibly sad and difficult time."

Her funeral is set to take place on Friday, October 29.

A GoFundMe page set up in memory of Jodie has already raised more than £4,000.
