Multiple units of gardai called after crowd gather around crash in Co Limerick

Gardai were called to a crash near a housing estate in Co Limerick after a large crowd gathered after.

Patrol units as well as the armed support unit were at the scene of the crash near Southill, Co Limerick on Tuesday evening.

Two cars were involved in a minor collision with footage on social media showing a large group of people onlooking after the incident.

Gardai were called to restore social distancing and help remove both cars from the road.

Nobody was injured and no arrests were made although one driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A garda spokesperson confirmed they attended an incident in the area on Tuesday evening.

The spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision which occurred in the Southill area, Co. Limerick on Tuesday, 19 May 2020 at approximately 4.50pm.

"Two cars collided causing minor damage to both vehicles. The driver of one vehicle was taken to University Hospital Limerick as a precaution, and was released a short time later.

"Investigations ongoing."
