Multiple people were shot Wednesday at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in Hawaii, according to local reports.
Hawaii News Now reported that at least three people were wounded.
The Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam said on Twitter that the shooting incident took place at 2:30 p.m. local time, and the base was closed down. But it was reopened by 4:15 p.m., officials said.
The shooting occurred at Drydock 2 at the base, witnesses told Hawaii News Now.
"JBPHH security forces have responded to a reported shooting at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. Due to the ongoing security incident, access/gates to #JBPHH are closed. We will update when we have further information," Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam had tweeted.
Saturday will mark National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, marking the 1941 aerial attack that killed 2,403.
The base, located on Oahu island, serves as the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet and doubles as an Air Force airfield. It's located about eight miles from downtown Honolulu.
